Imminent Federal Medicaid policy changes will affect MassHealth beneficiaries of all ages, including older adults. MassHealth is working to communicate what those changes are, and Governor Healey launched a statewide public awareness campaign on Aug. 11. There will be:
- New work and education requirements
- More frequent renewals
- Changes to eligibility criteria for some categories of immigrants
In order to receive the latest information from MassHealth, beneficiaries should update their contact info, as well as other life changes related to health status.
MassHealth has also created a screening tool to help people find out if they need to meet new work and/or education requirements.
They have also created “member-facing materials”: PSA graphics, a poster, flyer, and social media posts that you can post in your Centers and Social Media accounts.
State officials predict that 300,000 or more could lose MassHealth coverage (“Mass officials roll out public awareness campaign ahead of looming MassHealth requirements,” Chris Van Buskirk, Boston Globe, Aug. 11, 2026).
